History

St. Mary's Academy was founded in 1978 on 465 rolling acres approximately twenty-five miles west of Topeka, the State Capital, and seventy-five miles west of Kansas City.  Our historic buildings were originally constructed by the Jesuits on the site of an old mission, dating from 1848, where they served the Potawatomi Indians. In the early 1900's, Saint Mary's was a well-known college and seminary and the site of over 1,000 priestly ordinations.

Today we continue the work of the Church, providing our nearly 900 children with a thorough Catholic education founded upon traditional principles. The school strives ultimately to form good Catholic citizens, men and women willing and able to work for the restoration of all things in Christ, freely submitting to the reign of Our Lord in the spiritual, moral, intellectual, and physical realms.
