Academy Concert Closes Fall Semester

On the evening of December 19, Saint Mary's Academy closed its fall semester with a Christmas-themed concert.  The concert, which is the "final exam" for the High School music classes, featured the 9th and 10th grade boys' choir and girls' choir, the 11th and 12th grade combined choir, and the extracurricular choirs from both schools.  The Chorus Angelorum ("Angel Choir") -- composed of boys from the 4th - 6th grades -- joined the 11th and 12th grade combined choir for a rendition of Ave Verum Corpus.  A brass ensemble from Kansas State University accompanied the choirs on several pieces, including a stirring "Hallelujah" chorus to close the concert.  It was a satisfying end to the fall semester and a fitting kick-off of the Christmas season festivities.

Several of the students will perform this spring with the Kansas Music Educator's Association (KMEA) District Choir and at the annual Cair Paravel Latin School Fine Arts Festival.
