First Communions

On May 5, ninety first grade boys and girls from St. Mary’s Academy received for the first time the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. They had been preparing for this honor all year in Religion class, especially by their first confessions, which they had made a few weeks before. A high mass was celebrated in the Auditorium by Fr. Rutledge, attended by the first communicants and their families. Afterwards, the children processed to Our Lady’s Circle to honor the Mother of Christ by singing hymns and crowning her their queen.
