History Alive! event

On Friday, March 26th the senior girls presented a History Alive! event in the auditorium for the girls school.

The senior girls have been studying American History and government this year. Throughout the third quarter each student had picked a figure from American History from the late 1700’s to the 1920’s and completed research to give an in-class presentation. After having done extensive research on their famous Americans, the idea came about that the students should dress up as these personalities and re-enact certain events from American History. The girls performed three different re-enacts: the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. Not only were the re-enactments a great hit, but all 27 students were in costume with displays and spoke in first person to the various grades that came to the auditorium to visit. Both the girls and their teacher had a grand time and hope to make the History Alive! event a yearly tradition.
