Notes regarding the above income thresholds
- We expect many of our families with children under the age of 8 to qualify for the Tax Credit Scholarships if as a parish we raise enough for the Academy ACE Scholarship Fund. For now, Academy families with children under 8 should first focus on the Apr 15, 2026 deadline to complete their application to receive a tax credit scholarship. For a family to receive a tax credit scholarship it is not required that they donate to the Academy ACE Scholarship Fund. Our expectation is that by receiving a scholarship, the family will be able to afford to make a contribution where the state of Kansas gives them a 75% tax credit on their Kansas return. Doing so will help ensure that there are funds to continue to receive the scholarship for the remainder of the child’s enrollment at the Academy.
- The above table shows thresholds at 250% of the federal poverty level which is lower than what is shown on the ACE page for Kansas. That page shows the 350% thresholds for the ACE Private Scholarship (which is a different scholarship than the Kansas Tax Credit Scholarship). Because Private Scholarship funds are limited, we do not expect many of our families to receive those private scholarships unless their income is substantially low. Families whose children are all over age 7 with modest incomes (e.g. less than half of the above thresholds) should still apply for an ACE Scholarship because they may be receive one of these private scholarships.
- For families with incomes over the above thresholds (but under $270,000) it still makes sense to apply because it is possible that they will qualify for the new federal tax credit scholarships that ACE will start awarding in early 2027 based on applications submitted by the Apr 15, 2026 deadline.
