Union Pacific's Big Boy Passes by Saint Mary's

Union Pacific's old steam locomotive Big Boy 4014 is back on the tracks after being retired for 58 years.  During the same month that tragedy struck Pearl Harbor, the Big Boy joined the fleet of Union Pacific engines.  Twenty years later, after travelling over one million miles, the locomotive was retired from service.  Union Pacific, in 2013, repurchased the engine from a museum and restored it for service to commemorate the 150th anniversary of completing the Transcontinental Railroad.  On Wednesday, November 20, the entire student body from Saint Mary's Academy and the College turned out to watch the Big Boy chug by the old campus.
